Chain-link fence

Chain-link fencing, where your city allows it.

Galvanized or black and green vinyl-coated chain link for back yards, side yards, pets and property lines. We check your parcel first, because in Miami-Dade chain link is banned in some cities and kept off the street in many more.

What this is

Chain-link fence in Miami-Dade: the short answer.

A chain-link fence is a woven steel mesh stretched between posts and a top rail. It is strong, open and one of the most affordable ways to enclose a yard, which is why it is still common on back and side lot lines across South Florida.

It is also the material Miami-Dade cities restrict most. Doral and Surfside do not allow it as a permanent fence, and a long list of cities keep it out of front yards and street-facing sides. Allday Fence checks the rules for your exact parcel, recommends galvanized or vinyl-coated fabric, and pulls, finals and closes the permit.

What we install

Chain-link options we build.

01

Galvanized

The standard silver finish for back and side lot lines where the city allows bare chain link.

02

Vinyl-coated

Black or green coated fabric, posts and rails. Reads finished, and is what several cities expect.

03

Mixed materials

Where chain link cannot face the street, ornamental aluminum or vinyl in front and chain link along the back. Add a gate wherever you need access.

Common questions

Common chain-link questions.

Can I put a chain-link fence around my house in Miami-Dade?

Often yes, but rarely in the front yard, and in a few cities not at all. In unincorporated Miami-Dade residential chain-link is a routine permit. Doral and Surfside do not allow it as a permanent fence. Coral Gables, Miami Gardens, Pinecrest, South Miami, Miami Beach and North Bay Village keep it out of front yards or any yard facing a street. We check your parcel's rules before we quote.

Galvanized or vinyl-coated chain link?

Galvanized is the plain silver finish. Vinyl-coated chain link is wrapped in black or green and reads far more finished from the yard and the street. Some cities effectively require the coated version: Miami Shores calls for black or green fabric, and Miami Lakes generally wants coated or screened chain link rather than bare galvanized.

Do I need a permit for a chain-link fence?

Yes, in Miami-Dade a new chain-link fence is permitted like any other fence, through the County for unincorporated parcels or through your city's building department. Chain link is one of the simpler fence types to permit because some cities accept a standard detail for it, but height, location and setbacks still have to comply.

Is chain link good for dogs and pools?

For pets, yes: it is open, strong and easy to gate. For pools, it depends on the mesh and the city. A pool barrier has to meet Florida's barrier rules for height, climbability and gates, and some cities have their own conditions. See our pool-code fencing page before choosing chain link around a pool.

Do you install tall or commercial chain link too?

Yes. For warehouses, yards and industrial lots we install galvanized and vinyl-coated chain link from 4 to 12 feet with slide and roll gates. See our commercial chain-link page.

How much does a chain-link fence cost in Miami?

It depends on height, linear footage, galvanized or coated fabric, gate count and what your city requires. We quote a flat fee after the property-record pull and the site walk, with the permit and inspection costs already included.
