Gates

Gates that open right, close on their own and pass inspection.

Driveway roll gates, telescopic gates, swing gates and pool-code gates across Miami-Dade County. Manual or motorized, drawn into the fence permit, and closed against the property record.

What this is

Gates in Miami-Dade: what we build and how they get permitted.

A gate is the part of a fence that moves, which makes it the part that fails first and the part inspectors look at hardest. Allday Fence builds aluminum single roll gates, telescopic roll gates, slide gates and swing gates for driveways and walkways, plus pool gates built to Florida's barrier statute. Each one can be manual or motorized.

In most Miami-Dade municipalities the gate is permitted with the fence, so it has to be drawn on the site plan from the start. We size it for the opening, the clear run behind the fence and the wind load, file it with the fence, and close the permit when it passes. Motorized gates are built to UL 325, the safety standard for gate operators.

Recent work

Two roll gates we installed.

Powder-coated aluminum on residential driveways, filmed on site.

01

Single roll gate

For driveways with room behind the fence line for the leaf to roll back. Manual or motorized.

02

Telescopic roll gate

Two stacked leaves travel together, roughly halving the back-roll distance. Built for wider openings and tight lots.

What we install

Gate types we build most.

01

Roll and telescopic gates

Driveway gates that roll on wheels with no track to clog. Single leaf where there is room behind the fence, telescopic where there is not.

02

Swing gates

Single and double swing gates for walkways and driveways, hung on posts set to spec depth so the gate does not sag in the first season.

03

Pool gates

Outward-swinging, self-closing and self-latching, with the release where a young child cannot reach it, as s. 515.29 requires. See pool-code fencing

04

Motorized operators

Operators fitted to roll, slide and swing gates and built to UL 325. New circuits go to a licensed electrician under their own inspection.

05

Commercial slide gates

Heavier slide and roll gates for warehouse, logistics and industrial perimeters. See commercial perimeters

06

Gate repair

Sagging leaves, broken hinges, misaligned latches and failed operators, on gates we built and gates we did not. See repair

The permit

The gate goes on the plan before it goes in the ground.

Miami-Dade has 34 municipalities plus the unincorporated County, and each one runs its own fence review. We file the gate with the fence, answer plan-review comments, schedule the final and close the permit against the property record. The office, phone and local rule for every jurisdiction are in our Miami-Dade fence permit guide.

Common questions

Common gate questions.

Do I need a permit for a new gate in Miami-Dade?

Usually the gate is permitted as part of the fence, not on its own. Most Miami-Dade municipalities want every gate drawn on the survey or site plan that goes in with the fence application, and a motorized gate that needs a new circuit also brings in electrical work by a licensed electrician. Which office issues the permit depends on the city: unincorporated parcels go to the County, and every incorporated city runs its own building department. Our Miami-Dade fence permit guide lists the office for all 35 jurisdictions.

What are the rules for a pool gate in Florida?

Florida Statutes s. 515.29 says a gate that gives access to a swimming pool 'must open outward away from the pool and be self-closing and equipped with a self-latching locking device, the release mechanism of which must be located on the pool side of the gate and so placed that it cannot be reached by a young child over the top or through any opening or gap.' All four conditions apply together. A gate that meets three of them fails inspection.

Roll gate or telescopic roll gate: which one fits my driveway?

A single roll gate needs room behind the fence line for the whole leaf to roll back. A telescopic roll gate stacks two leaves that travel together, which roughly halves the back-roll distance, so it suits wider openings and tight lots. We measure the opening and the clear run behind the fence before recommending either.

Can you motorize a gate?

Yes. We install manual and motorized roll, slide and swing gates, and we work to UL 325, the safety standard for gate operators. Where the operator needs a new circuit, the electrical scope is handled by a licensed electrician and inspected like any other electrical work.

Do you repair gates you did not install?

Yes. Sagging gates, broken hinges, misaligned latches and failed operators are among the most common repair calls we get. A pool gate that no longer self-closes or self-latches is a safety failure, not a cosmetic one, and we treat it that way.

How much does a driveway gate cost in Miami?

It depends on the opening width, the gate type, the material, whether it is motorized, and what the permit scope looks like in your city. We quote a flat fee after we pull the property record and walk the site, with the permit and inspection costs already included.
